Suffolk Cops To Give Out Reflective Safety Vests For Pedestrians, Bicyclists In Patchogue
The Home Depot's donations will improve visibility and will provide a level of protection against potential injuries, police said.
PATCHOGUE, NY — Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison is expected to give out reflective vests to pedestrians and bicyclists as part of the department’s ongoing roadway safety program during a news conference in Patchogue on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Roadway safety is an issue that impacts everyone in the county, and the department has focused on enforcement efforts to discourage reckless behavior on roadways, officials said, adding that the donations will improve visibility and will provide a level of protection against potential injuries.
The Home Depot donated reflective vests to the police department that will be available, while supplies last, at Police Headquarters in Yaphank, and the Community Relations Bureau and its COPE officers will also distribute the vests, as well as reflective stickers for children’s bicycles.
