Suffolk Man Charged In Hit-And-Run: Police
His SUV struck three people in Patchogue Aug. 6, Suffolk police said.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A Medford man was behind the wheel of an SUV that struck three people and then sped away in Patchogue earlier this month, Suffolk police said.
Two people were standing near a 2002 Honda on East Main Street, close to Phyllis Drive, after being involved in a motor crash on Aug. 6 at around 3:40 a.m., according to police.
A third person, not involved in the crash, approached the scene to check on them, when a 2007 Saturn Vue traveling eastbound struck the Honda and all three people, police said.

The SUV sped away, continuing eastbound on East Main Street, police said, adding that all three people were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life- threatening injuries, police said.
Crime Section officers arrested Diego Torres Wednesday at 9:20 p.m. at the 5th Precinct in Patchogue, according to police.

Torres, 32, was charged with three counts of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and one count each of reckless endangerment and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
He was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, according to police.
