Village's Academy Street Paving Starts Tuesday
Re-paving the first improvement in a "Storefront to Shorefront" initiative, says trustee.

Academy Street will be receiving a fresh coat of pavement starting Tuesday, weather permitting, and should be completed by Aug. 5, says Patchogue Village trustee Joseph Keyes in an email to Patch.
Keyes said Terry Street becoming one-way in 2011 has necessitated Academy Street's paving, as it has since received an increase in traffic resulting in accelerated wear.
Residents and businesses on Academy Street will be notified by fliers to their addresses of the paving, says Keyes.
Keyes said that this paving is the start of a "Storefront to Shorefront" initiative Patchogue Village is running that has been launched by Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri and Keyes. Details on what exactly this initiative will mean are not yet available, but it currently appears focused on improving the appearance of the Village. Keyes said in the email that there should be several other planned improvements coming up for the Village, but that the campaign is in its early stages.
