Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Repair Cafe Coaches

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Repair Cafe
Repair Cafe is a free, community-powered event where volunteer Repair Coaches help community members bring their items back to life. More than a fix-it event, Repair Cafe is a vibrant community gathering where knowledge is shared, landfill waste is reduced, and connections are made. Friendly, handy people are needed to volunteer as Repair Coaches to help tinker, troubleshoot, or just chat with people while working on a project. Repair Coaches don't have to be professionals, though they must be 18+ (or 14+ as part of an adult's team).
Date: 11/8 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Organization: Rockland Conservation Service Corps
Location: Pearl River

Mural Project Designer
Westchester Community Health Center (WCHC) is seeking a professional mural artist to collaborate with its school-based health centers and pediatric teams on a special community art project. Together with youth and staff, the selected designer will help conceptualize and guide the creation of a mural for the pediatric units. This initiative combines creativity, youth engagement, and healing design to make WCHC's pediatric spaces more welcoming, calming, and inspiring for children and families. Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: Flexible schedule
Organization: Westchester Community Health Center
Location: Throughout Westchester

Trail Stewards
Trail Stewards are needed to protect the 3.5 miles of hiking trails at Lasdon Public Gardens from May through October. Volunteers commit to at least one two-hour shift per month and report their experiences through an online form. This seasonal position is a great opportunity to give back to the trails and can become a long-term role for those interested in making a deeper impact. Perfect for volunteers who are 16+ (or 14+ as part of an adult's team); sign up now to lock in your volunteer spot in the spring!
Date: Flexible schedule
Organization: Friends of Lasdon Park and Arboretum
Location: Katonah
