3 Accused In Peekskill Of Weapons, Drugs Possession

Two separate residences were searched, and police said guns, heroin, cocaine and marijuana were seized.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Three Peekskill residents were arrested after being accused of having illegal weapons and drugs.

The City of Peekskill Police Department said a search warrant was executed Wednesday along with the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and Putnam County Sheriff's Department on two separate residences in Peekskill and Lake Peekskill.

Authorities said the following was recovered and seized:

  • Two illegally possessed loaded firearms, one of which was a revolver reported stolen out of Dutchess County
  • More than 400 grams of cocaine
  • 187 glassine envelopes of heroin
  • About 8 pounds of marijuana
  • More than $28,000 in cash

Following the searches, three people were arrested, police said.

They are Masi Smith, 29, Katherine Chacon and Shadieq Desland, all of Peekskill.

Smith and Chacon were arrested and charged by the City of Peekskill Police Department with:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Smith and Desland will be charged by Putnam County Sheriff's Department for drug and weapons possession.

Smith and Chacon were arraigned in the City of Peekskill Court Thursday. Smith was sent to the custody of the Westchester County Jail; Chacon was released on her own recognizance.
