Hayworth Makes Super Bowl Wager with New Hampshire Congressman

The following is a press release from Congresswoman Nan Hayorth: U.S. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) has a friendly wager riding on the outcome of Sunday’s Super Bowl game with fellow House freshman Congressman Frank Guinta (NH-01). Call it “A Bite of the Big Apple vs. A Taste of New Hampshire,” and who winds up eating depends on the result of Sunday’s Super Bowl contest between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. 

Congresswoman Hayworth is backing her hopes for a New York Giants victory with a feast for 12 people from New York’s Hudson Valley including:

·      Assorted cold cuts platter from Mama Theresa's Italian Specialties in New Windsor, NY

·      Baked Ziti from Ginos Trattoria from Mahopac, NY

·      New York cheesecake from The I-84 Diner in Fishkill, NY

“This weekend’s matchup will be a great game to watch for fans of both teams who enjoy a tradition of success," said Hayworth. "I am looking forward to sampling some of New Hampshire's traditional food after watching the New York Giants bring home a win against the New England Patriots for the second time in the Super Bowl."

Guinta is putting up a New Hampshire-inspired menu of lobster, maple syrup and Poutine (a French Canadian specialty consisting of French fries topped with curd cheese covered with a spicy chicken gravy) in support of the New England Patriots.

“This meal represents a slice of New Hampshire cuisine,” Guinta said.  “Just as the Patriots represent the best in football, the Taste of New Hampshire represents goodies that Granite Staters have enjoyed for years.  I’m proud to showcase the best of our state’s foods with my bet.  But I’m sure that when the Patriots whittle the Giants down to size Sunday evening, the lobster, syrup and poutine won’t be going anywhere.  And speaking as someone with a fondness for ziti, I’ll be rooting doubly hard for the Patriots to win!”

Congresswoman Hayworth has selected local-owned small businesses from within New York’s 19^th Congressional District to provide the New York-themed meal for the friendly wager with Congressman Guinta should the New England Patriots prevail in Sunday’s game.
