"I am very disappointed that AT&T has chosen to disregard its contract with CWA and choose outside contractors over its employees. This path is very destructive just before Contract negotiations are to begin, they are forcing me and my family to leave the city I love," stated Peekskill Chairman Michael Kane.

"I am proud of CWA’s negotiating team and understand how hard it is to work in good faith with Companies that have attitudes like AT&T. I am also grateful that the negotiating team included a 'Job Offer Guarantee' in the 2009 contract," continued Kane.

Michael Kane, Chairman of the Peekskill Democratic City Committee, has announced his resignation. “I’m honored to have served as Chairman and helped continue successful leadership of the City of Peekskill, it has truly been a remarkable experience,” said Mr. Kane. “I love Peekskill, the Pearl of the Hudson Valley, but due to work obligations I may be forced to leave. With that, I cannot effectively serve as Chairman with my future in doubt,” explained Kane. Kane is a Network Technician at AT&T and a member of the Communications Workers of America, where he serves as a shop steward for the Union.

Kane replaced former Chairman and current City Councilman Darren Rigger in 2010. Since then the City Democrats have continued their electoral successes helping to elect Governor Cuomo and re-elect US Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, as well as new members of the City Council Kathleen Talbot and Darren Rigger, and Mayor Mary Foster.

“I am proud of all my work with The Peekskill Democratic City Committee over the last 13 plus years. I didn’t do it alone, I have never done anything worth going alone and am honored to have served with so many great democrats” says Kane.

“I’m excited by what’s been accomplished and what is to be accomplished, and assured in knowing that the talent pool of Democrats in Peekskill is viable for years to come. Though I am forced to leave, I know that the city party is in good hands,” stated Kane. The party has swept Council and mayoral races for consecutive election cycles despite strong Republican performances in Westchester County.

“Peekskill is a shining light for Democrats in Westchester and New York State,” said Kane.
