Montrose, NY- The Frank G. Lindsey Elementary school community is excited to announce the recent purchase and installation of six new smart boards. The Smart boards were purchased through a generous grant from the Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School Parent Teacher Association.
The Smart boards will be used to augment lessons with interactive websites, videos, and games that will reinforce concepts and key ideas through out the curriculum.
Third-grade teacher, Karen McCormack is one of the proud recipients of a new smart board. She is especially excited about using it during the upcoming Rain Forest unit. “There are so many useful and interactive websites that will not only engage the students but reinforce key concepts of the unit,” she said. “There are so many opportunities for students to become part of the lesson. Instead of passively learning they are able to see, touch and hear the animals, plants and insects that call the rain forest home.”

“Smart boards are great because they can be used through out the elementary curriculum. From ELA, to science, social studies, and math, the smart board will be used to enhance students learning while raising their level of understanding,” remarked McCormack.
“Technology plays a critical role in the development of a child,” remarked Principal Donna Torissi. “We are fortunate to have such an active and generous PTA to support our technology program which augments our curriculum so appropriately,” she concluded.
