Cortlandt Businessman Honored with Award from National Trade Group

Andy Moss, Progressive Waste Solutions, Recognized By Industry Peers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, May 1, Cortlandt resident Andy Moss of Progressive Waste Solutions,  received the National Solid Wastes Management Association’s (NSWMA) Special Governor’s Award for his years of service to NSWMA’s New York City Chapter. The award was presented at a special ceremony in Las Vegas. 

NSWMA is the trade association representing for-profit companies in North America that provide solid, hazardous and medical waste collection, recycling and disposal services, and companies that provide professional and consulting services to the waste services industry.  Progressive Waste Solutions (www.bficanada.com) is the third largest non-hazardous solid waste management company in North America, serving the needs of commercial, industrial and residential customers.

“We are honored to present Andy with this award,” said Bruce J. Parker, NSWMA’s President and CEO.  “He has been an active member of NSWMA, playing a lead role in advocating for the industry and its technological and environmental achievements.  His work has helped to foster a better understanding of proper solid waste management’s integral role in the community.”

Moss was praised for being a leader at NSWMA’s New York City Chapter, where he has served as vice chair for two years. Moss joined Progressive Waste Solutions in 2001, directing business development, mergers and acquisitions and government affairs in the Northeast.  Previously he was with the Office of the Attorney General of New York.  Moss resides in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

The awards ceremony will take place in Las Vegas as part of the waste industry’s national trade show, WasteExpo 2012 (www.wasteexpo.com).
