Entergy Returns Indian Point 2 Nuclear Power Plant to Service

Control Room operators returned IP2 to service Wednesday evening.

Press Release from Entergy: Control room operators returned the unit 2 nuclear power plant to service on Wednesday evening, Jan. 18. Operators had on Jan. 10 to replace a seal inside a pump that supplies cooling water to the plant’s reactor.

Unit 2 had been online generating electricity for 230 continuous days prior the Jan. 10 maintenance shutdown.

Unit 3 is at full power and has been online for 287 continuous days since returning to service following a refueling shutdown.

Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two operating nuclear power plants, unit 2 and unit 3, which generate approximately 2000 megawatts of electricity for homes, business and public facilities in New York City and Westchester County.
