Fatal Stabbing Leads To Standoff, House Fire In Peekskill
A 48-year-old man died of multiple stab wounds, police said.
PEEKSKILL, NY — A fight and a fatal stabbing led to a police standoff and a house fire Wednesday in Peekskill.
The City of Peekskill Police Department said, around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to 7 North James St. for a report of an altercation and someone suffering from a stab wound.
On arrival, officers found Edward Reeves, 48. He had multiple stab wounds and was immediately given medical aid by the officers.

Reeves was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Police said, around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, investigators attempted to speak with a person of interest at 10 Grant Ave.

The man became uncooperative, police said, and barricaded himself in the home.
Minutes later, it was discovered the building was on fire, according to authorities.
Eventually, the man left the home through a second-floor window and was taken into custody by officers.
There was no one else in the building, police said.
Firefighters from the Peekskill Fire Department, along with several other surrounding agencies, responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.
This is an ongoing investigation being led by the City of Peekskill Police Department.
