5. Happy(?) Friday the 13th

The myth of Friday the 13th comes from a belief that 13 is an unlucky number and Friday is an unlucky day. The actual origin of the superstition is unclear, although scholars believe it appears to be a tale in Norse mythology. Friday is named for Frigga, the free-spirited goddess of love and fertility who was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch after her people converted to Christianity. Figga was believed to hold a meeting with 11 other witches and the devil (a total of 13) every Friday.

Whatever you believe of the origin, we hope you enjoy the day and don’t let any kind of friggatriskaidekaphobia get in the way.
