Gonzalez and Team USA Win; Fleishmann Fire Memorial Service

1. Melissa Gonzalez and Team USA Defeats Argentina

The women’s field hockey team defeated Argentina 1-0 in yesterday’s match. Congratulations to Lakeland High School graduate and Team USA on the win!  On Thursday, Aug. 2, USA faces Australia at 10:45 a.m. (6:45 a.m. EST).

2. Fleischmann Fire Memorial Service

The officers and members of Centennial Hose and Cortlandt Hook & Ladder will hold an annual Memorial Service at 7 p.m. to honor the memory of those members who lost their lives on August 1, 1918.

This year’s service will take place at the Firemen's Memorial Park at Charles Point located on John Walsh Boulevard. Refreshments will be at Cortlandt Hook & Ladder immediately following the ceremony.

3. Cortlandt Planning Board Meeting

The Cortlandt Planning Board meets at 6 p.m. in Cortlandt Town Hall for a work session and at 7 p.m. for the Planning Board meeting.

4. Peekskill Celebration Dragon Boat Races

Due to an increased number of teams this year, the Cancer Awareness Races will be held all morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. The rose ceremony will follow at 12:30 p.m. Read more on the Celebration and races .
