Health Officials Clear First Set of Water Samples at Lakeview Dr; Water Advisories Still in Effect

Officials said the first set of water samples taken at the Lakeview Drive in Peekskill has come back satisfactory. But the current 'no drink' and 'boil water' advisories will stay in effect until the results of a second set of tests come in.

County health officials said today that they are satisfied with preliminary tests for the presence of chemicals from the firefighting foam used in the March 21 fire at the Hudson View Estates.

“We’re waiting for the results from the second round of samples to come in,” said Heather McGill, a spokeswoman for the county Health Department. “If those results come back satisfactory, then we’ll be able to lift the ‘no drink’ advisory. But for now, that has to stay in place.”

McGill said the water boil advisories that are in place for a number of homes on Pemart Avenue and Lakeview Drive will also stay in effect until officials get the results from a second set of samples.
