Celebrating Veteran’s Day with local heroes, today Heineken USA employees from the company’s White Plains and New York City offices, as well as Northeast Region and distributor partners, stepped away from their desks to volunteer with The Veteran's Nursing Home (VNH) in Montrose, New York.

Volunteers participating in Heineken USA’s fourth annual Northeast Region Day of Giving used their green thumbs to help revitalize the grounds and lent extra hands to beautify the inside of the VNH building. The close of the day became reflective and emotional as employees helped transport Veterans to a special ceremony honoring their service to our country.

The company’s Day of Giving program reinforces its long-standing commitment to making a positive difference in the communities where Heineken USA’s consumers and employees live and work.

“These Veterans and their families have sacrificed so much in order to keep our country safe, and being with them today gives us an opportunity to show our appreciation on such an important day,” said Dan Tearno, senior vice president and chief corporate relations officer, Heineken USA. “We’re committed to serving our community, and as a Veteran myself, to work with the Veteran's Nursing Home on our Day of Giving was especially rewarding.”

“We’re extremely grateful to Heineken USA for supporting our efforts to honor and empower the great men and women who have served our country,” said Nancy Baa-Danso, executive director, New York State Veteran’s Nursing Home. “It was incredible to see so many employees pitch in to support our community heroes, and I know the efforts were appreciated by everyone here.”

Heineken USA has a strong history of supporting the troops past and present. In 2010, the company held a Heineken with a Heart fundraiser which raised almost $30,000 for the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Additionally, Heineken USA partnered with Team Cody to supply Warrior Packs to troops serving in Afghanistan that include warm socks, Under Armor Shirts, pocket knives, Swiss Army watches, candy, magazines, and more.
