Hen Hud Nominated for Theater Awards; Interim Superintendent Appointment; Patch in WPIX

Five things you need to know today, May 22.

1. Hendrick Hudson Students/Performance Nominated for High School Theater Awards

Hen Hud students and performance of were nominated for the annual HS theater awards.

The school’s performance of “71/2 Cents” in “The Pajama Game” is nominated for Outstanding Production number; Noah Ruff (who played Hines) is nominated for Outstanding Comic Performance for his role in “The Pajama Game;” the school’s orchestra was nominated for Outstanding Orchestra and school drummer Lee Meadvin was nominated for outstanding instrumentalist.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Paramount Center for the Arts on  June 4 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

2. Patch Partners with WPIX

Look for Patch stories from the tri-state area on WPIX 11 news at 5 p.m. Patch has partnered with the CW-affiliate in New York City to provide popular Patch stories for the television newscast.

Elementary students will dress as important governmental figures they have studied and researched for an annual Governmental Tea today at 9 and 11 a.m. at the school. Various members of the community, parents and others have been invited to enjoy a cup of tea and a cookie with the important figures represented by the students, ranging from Abraham Lincoln to Susan B. Anthony to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Peekskill Celebration's carnival will be held at Riverfront Green Park, Peekskill, NY starting Thursday, May 24 through Monday, May 28. Read their Patch blog post for information on discounts, hours and events. 

5. Hendrick Hudson Board of Education

The Hen Hud Board of Education will meet tonight for its regular meeting at 7:45 p.m. in the HHHS cafeteria. The board plans to formerly appoint as Interim Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1. 

“On behalf of the Board of Education, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Monahan into our community, so we can begin focusing, with renewed hope and energy, on our plans for the 2012-2013 school year, full of great things for our students and staff,” said Board of Education President Marion Walsh in a district press release yesterday.
