Hen Hud Receives Grant from Wheelabrator

Wheelebrator Technologies, Inc. has awarded the Hendrick Hudson School District a grant in the amount of $3,440 to fund the purchase of materials necessary for the district’s new Project Lead the Way college-level course, Digital Electronics, coming on in September 2012. 

In this course, students in grades 10-12 will be introduced to the process of combinational and sequential logic design, engineering standards and technical documentation.  

Wheelabrator is a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc., a worldwide waste management conglomerate that employs some of the latest and greenest technologies in its various lines of business.  Wheelabrator’s Peekskill trash-to-energy plant handles nearly all of Westchester County’s trash and generates enough electricity to serve 88,000 homes throughout the county.

 “We are fortunate to have a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company right here in our backyard.  Their generosity has made it possible for us to offer another Project Lead the Way course, fulfilling student demand for these hands-on, dynamic engineering courses,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel McCann.
