Local Seniors Honored, Tree Lightings, Art + Word

Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Dec. 2-4.

1. Local Seniors Honored Today
The Westchester Senior Hall of Fame will honor 43 people at its 29th annual awards luncheon today. Theresa McHale, of Montrose and John D’Angelo, Fran Green and Tina McDermott of Peekskill will be among the honorees. Congratulations to our local seniors on this honor!



The Peekskill drama students present a series of O.Henry’s plays. Show times are Friday, Dec. 2 and 3 at 7:30 in the PHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 and $7 for students and seniors. In honor of O. Henry’s gift of helping others, please bring a canned good offering to donate to Fred’s Pantry.



Peekskill High School and Middle School art students working with teacher Heather Brown and Director of the Youth Mural Arts Project Kelli Brickman, have created banners as part of the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art Banner Project. There will be a grand unveiling of banners on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

3.    Tree Lighting Ceremonies
Peekskill, Buchanan and Verplanck are all holding tree lighting ceremonies this weekend. Santa will be there, and you should too!

5.    Art + Word at the Field Library
An opening reception for this impressive writer, artist, and musician collaborative project will take place Saturday, Dec. 3 from 12 to 4 p.m. with a reading at 2 p.m. at the Field Library. Click for more.
