Man Beats Mailman; Bail Jumper Arrested on Felony Drug Charges

Man Assaults Mailman

An 18-year-old Peekskill resident was charged with third degree assault, a misdemeanor, after attacking a United States postal worker who was delivering the mail on Dyckman Street on Jan. 10 at 3:20 p.m. Anthony Williams allegedly assaulted the postal worker, who sustained several injuries to his head and face including a laceration, bruising, and chipped tooth as a result of the assault. The motive for the assault remains unclear. Police were assisted by United States Postal Inspectors who are continuing their investigation. Williams was held on $250 bail.

On Jan. 12, Deborah Brown, 24, of Peekskill, was charged with fifth degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (CSCS 5th), a Class D felony and third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (CSCS 3rd), a Class B felony, on the 700 block of South Street by Det. Anthon Malfitano and Officer Joe McGann.

Brown was charged with two counts of CSCS 5th and one count of CSCS 3rd following a several month investigation conducted jointly by theNarcotics Unit and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety. During the investigation Brown illegally sold prescription medications (Percocet, Klonopin, and Seroquel) to an undercover police officer. Brown, who was also wanted on a warrant from the Town of Greenburgh charging her with third degree Bail Jumping, was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.

License Suspended 16 Times, but Still Driving

On Jan. 10 David Jimenez, 21, of Carmel, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, on Wells Street. Jimenez was stopped on Wells St. for operating a vehicle without a license plate light and for having a broken tail light. A check on the status of his license revealed his privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York had been suspended a total of 16 times for failing to answer previous summonses. Jimenez was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court. 

Selling Crack to Undercover Cop

A 36-year-old Peekskill man was charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of controlled substance, both Class B felonies, on Jan. 11 at 10:55 p.m. on Orchard Street. Tierre Helton was charged with three counts of each following a several month investigation conducted jointly by the City of Peekskill Police Department and the New York State Police. During the investigation Helton sold crack cocaine to an undercover police officer. Helton was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail. Det. Anthony Malfitano and Officer Joe McGann made the arrest.

 

DWI on Water Street

John Mitchell, 55, of Peekskill was charged with driving while intoxicated on Jan. 13 at 10:20 p.m. on Water Street.

Mitchell was charged after being stopped for erratic driving. He was found to be operating while intoxicated and subsequently taken into custody. Mitchell refused to submit to a chemical test and is therefore facing an automatic one year revocation of his driver’s license. He was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in Peekskill City Court on Jan. 30 at 11 a.m.

Heroin and Clonazapan

On Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. 41-year-old Peekskill resident Robert Blair was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, on the 900 block of Paulding Street.

Blair was stopped on Paulding St. for operating a vehicle with an expired inspection. While investigating the traffic offense, two baggies commonly used to package narcotics were observed in his vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of 12 baggies of Heroin and 2 tablets of Clonazapan which were located in a pouch on a keychain inside of the vehicle. Blair was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail.
