Police: Man Threatens Wife with Knife, Stabs Child’s Bed

At 3:55 a.m. on New Year’s Day Luis Machisaca, 35, of Peekskill, was arrested for second degree menacing, endangering the welfare of a minor and unlawful imprisonment, all misdemeanors, on Carhart Ave.

Machisaca allegedly threatened his wife with a knife, stabbed the bed that his young child was sleeping in and refused to allow his wife to leave their bedroom. Another family member in the house called police who report that Machisaca was drunk. They took him into custody without incident and he was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail.

Drunk Driver Found with BAC Three Times the Limit

A drunk driver in Peekskill was charged with aggravated DWI on Dec. 31 at 2:35 a.m. after police saw him driving the wrong way down Cortlandt Street, which is one-way.

Sergio Naula-Sagray, 29, was stopped by police officer Lawrence at Harrison Ave. and Phoenix Ave. His blood alcohol content was found to be .24 percent, which is three times the .08 percent limit.

 

Caught with Cocaine on New Year’s

At 2:50 a.m. on New Year’s morning, Verplanck resident Richard Devitt, 28, was charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. While on patrol, Sgt. White observed Devitt in possession of an open container of beer and subsequently stopped and arrested him on the 900 block of Main Street. Following the arrest Devitt was searched and found with one bag containing 12 individual bags of cocaine. Devitt was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail.
