A lot of holiday events are going on this weekend.

Let Peekskill Make You Merry

What: A seasonal promotion that offers discounts at 30 downtown Peekskill businesses, including restaurants and bars. Now through Dec. 31 at any business displaying a “Peekskill Makes Me Merry” sign.

Why Go: Discounts! You can spend a nice winter day getting some Christmas gift shopping done and enjoying discounts you won’t find anywhere else. Discounts range from limited time offers on Kung Fu and yoga classes, to art and jewelry, to used books (which are pretty cheap to begin with and, when you make a good find, it can be a very special gift!). Also, Peekskill’s Trolley Stella will be driving around decked out in her best holiday attire and in search of the best-decked holiday house. Take a ride from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight, Saturday or Sunday, or Dec. 16-18 or 30th at the same time.

Price: Free to shop and browse. A ride on Stella costs $11.

Peekskill Museum Holiday Party

When/Where: 124 Union Ave., 2 p.m.

Why Go: Santa is going! Bring the kids and celebrate the holidays with a party. Entertainment will be provided by The Mary Crescenzo Trio, holiday treats will be served and admission is free.

Price: Free

 

12 Grapes Holiday Scholarship Fund

When/Where: , N. Division Street, Peekskill

Why Go: The Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Milone will be guest bartending from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to raise money for a 50/50 raffle benefitting the Chamber’s high school scholarship fund.  

Price: Pay for your drinks.

 

Hen Hud Lions Club Annual Pancake Breakfast

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go: This is a great opportunity to gather with friends, enjoy some pancakes and tell Santa what you want this year.

Price:Kids under 3 years old and those who donate a new unwrapped toy eat free. All others, just $5 a person.

*Snow date December 18.

 

You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown

When/Where:  Saturday, December 10, 8 p.m., Sunday December 11, 2 p.m. and Saturday, December 18, 11 a.m. and 4p.m. at The Play Group Theatre in White Plains.

Why Go: Based on the famous comic strip with its loveable characters, this production brings them all to life with laugh-out-loud jokes and lively songs. Does Charlie Brown finally get up the nerve to talk to that cute little red-haired girl? Will Linus give up his trusty blanket once and for all?  It’s a fun show for the whole family.

Price:  Tickets: $18 regular admission, $15 senior citizen, $15 child under 12

 

Bach For the Holidays

When/Where:  Saturday, December 10 , 8-9 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of  Mount Kisco

Why Go:  Take in the beautiful music of the season when The Taghkanic Chorale plus orchestral ensemble and soloists perform works of Johann Sebastian Bach under the musical direction of Steven Fox at their annual holiday concert.

Price: $25

 

John Tesh: Big Band Christmas

When/Where:  Sunday, December 11, 3 p.m. at Eisenhower Hall Theatre, U.S. Military Academy, West Point.

Why Go:  On stage with 14 performers, John will play favorite holiday tunes in the big band style along with piano solos. With three gold albums, two Grammy nominations, and a nationally syndicated radio show, John Tesh is known worldwide in the entertainment industry.

"It's a Wonderful Life" - A One-Man Show

When/Where:  Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 11, 3 p.m. at the Schoolhouse Theater in Croton Falls

Why Go: Comic actor Christian Thom interprets Frank Capra's holiday film classic, It's a Wonderful Life in a one-man live stage show. Thom portrays all the characters of the beloved film, taking his audience on a magical journey through the town of Bedford Falls. The 1946 film has been recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the most inspirational American films of all time.

Price:  Tickets:  $15

 

Super Sunday Chanukah Wonderland

When/Where:  Sunday, December 11, 11 a.m-6 p.m. at Chabad of the Rivertowns in Dobbs Ferry

Why Go: Celebrate Chanukah with face painting, candle making, donut making, and lots more activities for the kids to enjoy. Also, there will be a chance to take a picture with Judah the Maccabee.  

Price:  Free

 

Winter on the Farm & Holiday Vendor Fair at Stone Barns

When/Where: Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Stone Barns Center in Pocantico Hills

Why Go:  It is the annual Winter Farm Celebration and Holiday Vendor Market, where visitors can pick up fantastic gifts from local artisans. On both days, there will be farm activities and crafts for families and children, along with seasonal tastings and recipe ideas (and ingredients) for your holiday table.

Travel on "The Polar Express" in IMAX

When/Where:  Show times through December 24 are 4 & 7:30 p.m. Fridays & Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays. After Christmas, “The Polar Express” will play at 4 & 7:30 p.m. December 26-30 and December 31, 4 p.m. at  The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT

Why Go:  "The Polar Express" is a visually stunning classic,digitally premastered and formatted for IMAX at Norwalk's Maritime Aquarium. Based on an award-winning book by Chris Van Allsburg, “The Polar Express” follows a young boy who doesn't believe in Santa Claus. A locomotive arrives on Christmas Eve that takes him and other doubtful children on a spectacular journey to Santa's North Pole headquarters.
