From Festa Italiana: There is still time to enter the first annual Miss Festa Italiana Peekskill 2012 Competition. The competition is open to
young women who want to compete for the Miss Festa Italiana Peekskill 2012 crown.
The planning committee is excited about this competition and looks forward to accepting applications

The United States women’s field hockey team will face Australia in the Olympic games at 6:45 a.m. EST. Go Lakeland High School Alum and Olympian and Team USA!
3. Cancer Awareness Races
Are you racing in a Dragon Boat competition in honor of a loved one? Please share their names in the comments of about Will Richard, a Buchanan native and a team he will steer that is racing in honor of his mother, Gail Richard, who passed last month.
Patch reader Jocelyn M. Thomas shared on the Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch Facebook page that she is racing "in memory of Pat Foreman of Somerset, NJ, and in honor of Barbara Gallagher of Florida, NY, and the many other people coping with breast cancer."
And the Hendrick Hudson Cheerleaders will be providing peppy support for Suz Crew. Cheerleader Coach Nicole Selvaggi-Landry has been working very closely with Kelly McKinley - the teams captain, and is looking forward to cheering on the team, she said. McKinley is rowing and has started a Suz Crew organization in honor of her mother who passed a few months ago.

5. National Night Out Celebration Set for Aug. 7
Thanks to the City of Peekskill for sharing this information: The City of Peekskill Youth Bureau and The Peekskill Police Department will be celebrating its 5th Annual Nation Night Out event on Tues., Aug. 7 at Franklin Park from 5-8 p.m. The event will include a DJ, Basketball, dancing and arts & craft for city youth and residents.
The event is designed to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention; generate support and participation in local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit; and let criminals know neighborhoods are prepared to take a stand against crime.
