Pearl Harbor Ceremony, Public Hearing on Hen Hud Bond, Snow, Paint History

Five things you need to know today, Dec. 7.

1.    Peekskill Pearl Harbor Ceremony
On Dec. 7, 1941 the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and killed nearly 2,400 American service men and women, launching the United State into WWII. Today, the City of Peekskill is hosting a Pearl Harbor Ceremony to remember the 70th anniversary of the attack at 4 p.m. in City Hall.

2.    Paint History
Join me this afternoon at the old Field Library (901 South Street, Peekskill) to paint a piece of history with artists Sone Tower and Larry D’Amico. Read all about the project . If you don’t want to paint, just come by and check it out.

3.    Chamber of Commerce After Business Hours
For the HVGCC members out there, don’t forget to stop by the Quiet Man Public House from 5:30 to 6:30 for the Business After Hours event. Cash bar, free hors d’oeuvres.

4. Hendrick Hudson Public Hearing on Bond Referendum

The final public hearing before the bond vote will take place 7 p.m. in the Hendrick Hudson School Library. Read more about the $25 million bond .


5.    Looks like London Again, with a Possibility of Snow!
The British invasion type fog we’ve been having is expected to continue again today, according to the National Weather Service. Expect patchy fog (not our kind of “patchy”) with a high near 51. The chance of precipitation all day is 90 percent. The NWS reports that rain and snow will fall after 4 a.m. tonight with a low near 34. Accumulation of less than one inch possible. Thursday should be sunny with a high near 45.
