Peekskill Asks Voters To Approve $105.4 Million Budget For 2022-23

PEEKSKILL, NY — Voters in the Peekskill City School District will have to decide whether to approve a $105.4 million budget for the 2022-23 school year.

That, according to school officials, represents a budget-to-budget increase of 3.97 percent.

The tax levy increase is projected to be 2 percent, which is below the state-mandated tax cap of 2.08 percent.

Officials said they are projecting a tax rate increase of 2.49 percent.

Impact on the homeowner would be $14.71 per month and $176.55 annually.

The budget would add four new faculty members: one elementary and three secondary teachers, the district said.

A public hearing will be conducted by the Board of Education at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peekskill High School.

Voters will also be asked to vote to fill three board positions. Three incumbents trustees — Jillian Villon, Maria Pereira and Michael Simpkins — are on the ballot.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 17 at Peekskill High School.
