Peekskill Man Steals Wallet From Shopping Cart: PD

Police said the man who clipped the wallet from a purse at a wholesale club was found after he was stopped for a traffic violation.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of stealing a wallet from a shopping cart at the Yorktown BJ's Wholesale Club.

The Yorktown Police Department said Dale Page, 76, of Peekskill, was charged Monday with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said, shortly before 3 p.m. Aug. 27, officers responded to BJ's in Yorktown for a report of wallet taken from a shopping cart.

The investigation found that Page took the wallet from a purse without the victim noticing. The wallet had $315 and three credit cards in it.

On Monday, Page was stopped on the Taconic State Parkway by the Westchester County Police for a traffic violation. County police found he was wanted by the Yorktown police for the larceny charges.

He was placed under arrest and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing

Page was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Sept. 15.
