Peekskill Rotary To Hold Cherry Blossom Festival, Plant Sale

The festival puts the spotlight on the 100 cherry trees that were planted along the riverfront walkway.

PEEKSKILL, NY — It's time to admire the blooming cherry trees of spring, and the Peekskill Rotary is holding its fifth annual Cherry Blossom Festival and Plant Sale.

The event will take place at Peekskill's Riverfront Green Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Admission and parking are free with easy access from the Peekskill train station.

Organizers said the festival puts the spotlight on the 100 cherry trees that were planted along the riverfront walkway. The event is for people of all ages.

All proceeds raised by the Rotary Club of Peekskill will go back to the community and international projects sponsored by Rotary International.

Festival activities include the plant sale, food trucks, craft vendors and a raffle. For children, there will be flower pot painting, arts and crafts, games and inflatable slides.

There will be only 300 raffle tickets sold at $100 per ticket. The cash prizes are one $5,000 grand prize, a $3,000 prize and seven $1,000 prizes.

The festival will have three items up for auction: embroidered art hanging quilt, Riverfront Cliffs of Peekskill photography and a black women's Coach Mercer Satchel 30, which is brand new and has a dustbag, organizers said.
