1. Local Students Make Quinnipiac University Dean’s List

Congratulations to Mario Adovasio and Ian Garrity, both of Cortlandt Manor, for being named to Quinnipiac University’s Dean’s list for the Fall 2011 semester.

2. Lakeland Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education will hold its regular business meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the 3100 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE PRINTED DISTRICT CALENDAR. That calendar contained the incorrect date of January 26th for the meeting.

3.     Congratulations Catherine Semple

Catherine Semple was one of seven Westchester teenagers honored Monday at the 11th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Youth Awards at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. Hosted by the African American Men of Westchester and United Way of Westchester and Putnam, the ceremony recognizes students whose community service efforts exemplify King’s ideals of social justice.

4. Hometown to Heroes Meeting

The Peekskill American Legion Society is holding a meeting of many different community groups, local officials and individuals seeking to set up a program known as Hometown to Heroes to assist our returning veterans and welcome them back in to our communities. Read more on the meeting now. The meeting will be held on Saturday at the Peekskill American Legion at 3 p.m.

5. Chance of Snow

The National Weather Service predicts a slight chance of snow after 3 p.m. with increasing clouds and a high near 33 degrees. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation tonight with a low around 25.
