PHS Student Displays Gun, Lock Down at School

Peekskill Police and officials locked down the school campus around 2 p.m. after a report of a student with a handgun, police said. No one was harmed and no shots were fired, according to Police Lieutenant Eric Johansen. The weapon was on an individual’s person and had been displayed, but police are not yet sure if it was a real gun, BB gun or replica, Johansen said. 

“We have no reason to believe that anyone at the high school was in danger and do not believe there is a weapon in the high school at this time so the school ended the lock down,” Johansen said.

Police have not made any arrests or charged anyone in relation to the incident, but several students are being questioned at police headquarters this afternoon in relation to the incident.

The school was under lock down from about 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

In December police investigated a similar incident after it was reported that a student had brought a gun to school. Police said they made no arrest in that incident.
