Police Looking for Peekskill Man in Connection with Shooting

White Plains Police are now searching for a second suspect in Friday's shooting of a 16-year-old boy, after arresting their first suspect on Saturday.

Juan Jose Gell, 18, of 120 Lake St., White Plains, was arrested and charged with felony counts of first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree use of a firearm. Commissioner of Public Safety David Chong said Lake Street’s close-knit and concerned community helped the department quickly develop leads and persons of interests in the crime. 

Police are now looking to question Dominique Hospie, 18, of 412 Union Ave. in Peekskill. According to the public safety department’s website, Chong had a message for Hospie, whose father is a White Plains resident.

“By now you know we are looking for you to question you about Friday’s shooting,” Chong said. “We have visited your home, family and friends, and it’s only a matter of time until we catch up with you. My advice to you is to come in and tell us your side of the story. There is no sense in hiding, and it’s for your own good and safety to turn yourself in.”

According to police reports, the 16-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was walking with a friend in  behind a string of auto-body shops on Lake Street in White Plains when he was shot around 4 p.m. on Sept. 2.

He was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is currently in critical, but stable condition. According to the website, Chong is crediting ESU Officer Michael Dawson with saving the victim’s life.
