Seven Hen Hud Students Qualify to Participate In National Merit Scholarship Program

This is a press release from the:  The Hen Hud School District is proud to announce that seven of our High School Juniors have qualified to enter the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.  They are: Conor Briggi, Leandre Eberhard, Fiona Ewing, Matthew Ledwin, Kyle Monk, Maia Silber and Amy White.

With over 1.5 million students competing for the scholarships and recognition, only 50,000 students will be selected as qualified for the National Merit Scholarship. In September, 16,000 of the qualifying students will advance to the Semi-finalist round.  Semifinalists are designated on a state representational basis. They are the highest scoring entrants in each state. Finally, in February, some 15,000 semifinalists will be notified that they are finalists for the National Merit Scholarship.

“The Hendrick Hudson community was excited to learn that seven of our juniors are being recognized by the National Merit Scholarship program,” said High School Principal James Mackin. “I know each of these students has dedicated countless hours to their academic pursuits and will proudly represent our high school in the National Merit program. These individuals exemplify what it means to be a Sailor,” he concluded.
