Foster Wins Peekskill Election by 59 Percent, Unofficial Tally Shows

"I guess Peekskill likes what it sees," said Mayor Mary Foster, who was just elected to another two-year term, according to unofficial results.

The Peekskill Democrats were in lead the entire night as unofficial numbers from the Board of Elections rolled in to Dem headquarters tonight.

Mayor Mary Foster won the election with 59 percent of the votes, or 1,538 votes, with Republican challenger Tony Washington earning 1,080 votes, according to Westchester County Board of Elections.

After cheers and hugs Foster told Patch, "I guess Peekskill likes what it sees!"

Foster will serve her third two-year term and the City Council members will serve four year terms. All democratic candidates except County Legislator candidate Michael Kane won the election. Kane lost to incumbent John Testa, 4,521 to 2,739.

The following individuals ran for two-year terms on the Westchester County Board of Legislators representing District 1 (Yorktown, Peekskill and Cortlandt, including Buchanan) and District 9 (Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt, Peekskill, Ossining, Briarcliff). Bill Burton, the current District 9 legislator is retiring this year. Here are there results.

  • (D, IN, WF), District 9: 4,391
