Veterans Day, Free Throw Contest, PEF Fundraiser

Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, Nov. 11-13.

1.     Happy Veterans Day

Veterans Day marks the end of World War I, or the signing of the Armistice that ended WWI on Nov. 11, 1918. It is a celebration of peace and the veterans who have fought for it. Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch thanks all of our veterans and we are asking you to recognize the veterans important in your life. Please add your photos of veterans to along with their name, title, rank and any other personal information you’d like to include.

Remember, no school today in honor of Veterans Day.

 2.     National Free Throw

The Peekskill Elks Lodge is hosting a youth free throw at the Kiley Center Saturday. Read more .

3.     Paula Poundstone at the Paramount

One of Comedy Central’s Greatest Stand-up Comics of all time will perform at the Paramount Center for the Arts Saturday night. Read more .

Peekskill Education Fund is holding a wine tasting fundraiser at the Hat Factory Sunday at 3 p.m. You can buy tickets ($25) at the door. Dylan’s wine is providing the wine and the wisdom for the event.

 5.     Weekend Weather Stays Mild and Sunny

The National Weather Service reports that today will be mostly sunny with a high near 50 and a nighttime low of 31. Saturday will be sunny with a high near 54 and nighttime low of 36. Sunday will be partly sunny with a high near 60 and nighttime low of 42.
