We welcome our latest blogger, Peekskill historian John Curran. Curran has a wealth of knowledge and passion for Peekskill history. We are thrilled he has joined Patch’s Local Voices. Read his first post about how Crayola Crayons were invented by a business that originated in Peekskill .

Today is the first day of Hanukah, and to kick of the Festival of Lights, Rabbi Paskind of the First Hebrew Congregation and the City of Peekskill are having a menorah lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. at the Peekskill gazebo.

3. Art Exhibit at Hendrick Hudson Free Library

Lisa Sokal’s “Glimpses: Small Works on Canvas - New Works in Oil and Acrylic," is on display at the Hen Hud Library until Dec. 30.
