Patch: How did you come up with the name of the restaurant?

Chen: We leaned into our Cajun roots with our name! Crab Du Jour is French and translates
roughly to “crab of the day,” which spotlights our fresh, high-quality seafood that we serve each and every day. Although our name is all about crab – we have much more than just crab like burgers, wings, salads, soups, and more!

Patch: This is your first location in New York outside of NYC - why pick Pelham?

Chen: We know that Pelham is one of the best places to live in New York. Living in Pelham not only offers residents a dense suburban feel but also offers fun experience with many surrounding bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. We'd like to be a part of this strong community and wanted to bring the Crab Du Jour experience here.

Patch: What's the most difficult challenge you've faced due to the pandemic?

Chen: Although we have a strong takeout following, going to Crab Du Jour is truly an experience. Without the opportunity to dine in with us, you are missing out on all of that. Having an interactive and fun dinner is something special that we didn’t get to bring alive at the restaurant a year ago in the heart of the pandemic. However, we took packaging for our online delivery items and really ran with finding new ways to deliver in-house meals and experiences in takeout form. Our seafood boils illuminate that concept of an at-home experience. When you unwrap the boil bag you are hit with hot steam and the aroma of fresh ingredients right in front of you. Sometimes food that is made for delivery does not transport well or loses its height in taste the longer it takes to be consumed - our seafood boils get better with time due to the rich marination and steam combination, guaranteeing a flavorful experience.

Patch: What do you want people to know about you?

Chen: We are more than just crab! Our menu has something for everyone! Our offerings range from seafood boils to chicken sliders and salads! Our extensive menu gives everyone an experience that caters to their unique tastes whether it is in house dining or takeout!

Patch: How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

Chen: When we open our doors in a community, we make it a point to fully immerse ourselves and be active participants within it. For us, giving back is not a one-time thing, it's something we do as much as possible. In every location that we open, we love to partner with local food banks and charities in that specific area. We also like to give back to our first responders and schools when given the chance, whether it's helping with fundraisers or dropping off a nice warm meal for staff members. We participate in dine-to-donates with school programs and really do as much as we can. Being involved in our communities is not an added touch but a pillar of who we are.
