Prison For Abuser Who Choked Girlfriend, Bit Her Face In Parked Car

PELHAM MANOR, NY — A man who savagely attacked his girlfriend at a Westchester parking lot has received a lengthy prison sentence.

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced on Wednesday that the Bronx man was sentenced to 6½ years in prison for physically attacking his girlfriend in a Pelham Manor parking lot in August 2023.

"Thanks to the victim's quick instincts during the attack and her extraordinary courage in testifying against her abuser, this defendant has now been held accountable for his violent actions and will not be able to cause harm to this victim or anyone else," Rocah said.

After a three-week trial, a jury on May 21 found 27-year-old Christian Rosado guilty of second degree assault, first degree unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.

Rosado was also sentenced to 2 to 4 years on the unlawful imprisonment charge, which will run concurrently to his 6½ -year sentence, and he will be subject to 5 years of post-release supervision.

On August 14, 2023, at 9:16 p.m., Rosado, while sitting in the passenger seat of the victim's parked vehicle on Pelham Parkway in Pelham Manor, repeatedly bit the victim’s lip and cheek before choking her. He then threatened the victim as he continued to bite her face.

As detailed during the trial, the victim revved the engine of her parked car during the attack, which alerted nearby Pelham Manor police officers. When approached by police, Rosado fled from the vehicle. After a foot pursuit, additional officers were called to help apprehend and handcuff Rosado, who was resisting arrest.

He was taken to Village of Pelham Police Department headquarters and carried inside the building after he refused to allow officers to walk him in.

The case was before NYS Supreme Court Justice Larry Schwartz in Westchester County Court and was prosecuted by Domestic Violence Bureau Chief Joyce Miller and Assistant District Attorney Arlene Ramezanzadeh, both of the Special Prosecutions Division, with assistance from Appeals and Special Litigation Deputy Division Chief William Milaccio and Domestic Violence Aide Christina Viera.
