Briarcliff Manor Police Blotter: Dispute with Con Ed; Tax Fraud

Here's a look at some of the incidents investigated by the Briarcliff Manor Police Department from Feb. 11 to 17, 2013.

Sunday, Feb. 17

12:43 p.m. — A Pleasantville Road business owner told police he believes someone is continually entering his office after hours. The man reported noticing objects being moved and strange trash in his garbage can. He stated the suspicious activity continued even after he changed the locks and he suspects a federal agency may be monitoring him. Police filed a report.

Friday, Feb. 15

7:44 a.m. — A 28-year-old Briarcliff Manor man was arrested for allegedly violating a family court order of protection.

Thursday, Feb. 14

11:03 a.m. — A Briarbrook Drive resident notified police that the IRS had contacted her after her tax return had been flagged. The woman told the IRS and police she had not yet filed her taxes. The potential identity theft is under investigation.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

11:15 a.m. — Following his court appearance on a bail jumping charge, police re-arrested a man who had an active warrant out of the Town of New Castle. Police reported the man was transported to New Castle.

Monday, Feb. 11

10:31 a.m. — A Holbrook Road resident called police and reported a Con Edison representative was on his property and attempting to shut off his utilities. Police responded to the residence and confirmed the employee did in fact work for Con Edison. Police made note of the dispute and advised the homeowner and employee they would need to settle it amongst themselves.
