Briarcliff Manor Proposes Increased School Budget

One of the budget's aims is to reduce class size at Todd School and the Middle School.

The Briacliff Manor Union Free School District has proposed a budget for the 2016-17 school year that totals $50,335,869.

This figure is a percent budget increase of 0.68 percent over the 2015-16 school budget.

The budget results in an 0.90 percent tax levy increase, which complies with the New York State allowable tax levy increase of 0.92 percent.

The budget will fund:

  • The reduction of class size at Todd School and the Middle School.
  • Support increased ELA time in fifth grade
  • Increase math and ELA instructional time in the MIddle School
  • Enhance the computer science strand at the Middle and High Schools
  • Enhance the engineering strand at the High School.

District enrollment has fallen from 1606 students during the 2011-12 school year to a projected 1448 in the 2016-17 school year.

Residents can vote from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 17 at the Todd School K-2 cafeteria.
