One special dance, titled, “The Change,” was inspired by a piece of choreography Guida produced 25 years ago for a teen dance company. A Briarcliff student group made up of nearly all ninth-grade students, worked to draw inspiration from the piece and make it their own in sync with a song by Peter Gabriel.
“They really analyzed and restructured it,” said Guida.

The students said they connected with the theme of the dance and used their own emotions to bring it to life.
“It’s about connecting with one another and looking for acceptance,” said freshman Sierra Beauzile.
The concert will feature students of all levels and a variety of styles of dance.
“I am very proud of how well they connected with the dances,”Guida said.
Tickets to the Briarcliff Dance Concert are on sale online for $12 general admission. Tickets are $15 at the door and $10 at the door only for senior citizens. Inquiries on non-profit group sales must be directed to Diane Guida at dguida@briarcliffschools.org.
