Briarcliff Water Main Flushing Underway

The Village of Brarcliff Manor is in the early stages of its annual fire hydrant flushing.

Today, some hydrants along the village's main roadways like this one on North State Road, are spewing water.

"It's really a transmission main flushing," explained Village Manager Philip Zegarelli. "We hit the larger mains to start the flushing process."

The village will then begin targeting "individual streets and neighborhoods," he said.

The one to two times a year process serves "to get out any very fine sediment that lodges in the system," explained Zegarelli.

After all, "We did just win second best tasting water [in Westchester County]," he added.
