Gellos Homerun Leads Setters Past Saint Rose

The Pace University softball team improved its record to 8-6 with a victory at home in Briarcliff.

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y.-  Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) blasted a two-run homerun in the third as the Setters defeated the Golden Knights of Saint Rose 5-3 in Northeast-10 Southwest Division action. The Setters improve to 8-6 overall and 1-3 in division action, while the Golden Knights fall to 2-13 and 0-3 in division play.

The Golden Knights struck first as they scored a run in the opening innings. The Setters answered in the third as Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) led off with a bunt single and scored on Gellos' homerun.

Pace added a pair in the fourth inning as Drury drove in two runs with a double. The Setters capped their scoring with a run in the fifth inning.

For Pace, Drury went 3-for-4 with two RBI's, while Gellos finished 2-for-4 with two RBI's. Hana Wright (Hillsboro, OR/Valley Catholic) also collected a pair of hits in her three at-bats Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) tossed five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and struck out two. Kelly Fisher (Castle Rock, CO/Douglas County) tossed a scoreless sixth innings, while Drury earned her first save of the season as she recorded the final three out for the Setters.
