Home Design Haven Opens in Pleasantville

Washington Avenue's TapeMeasure was formerly branded Reupholstery by Anna before its move.

Husband and wife duo Warren Cook and Elizabeth Calderone are giving an established business new legs in Pleasantville.

The owners of TapeMeasure, a recently-opened home design retailer, came about after the pair purchased the 25-year-old company Reupholstery by Anna.

Calderone has experience working in the Manhattan fashion industry for businesses like Barneys New York and Berdorf Goodman and jumped at the chance to transition into a different type of style career.

"Home furnishings were always my first love," she shared in a press release. "The chance to work with Anna to build on her reputation presented an irresistible opportunity."

The Washington Avenue store, which the new owners described as "spa-like" has also branched out the brand into more home offerings, including wallpaper, area rugs, custom-made furniture and upholstered headboards.

TapeMeasure is also offering in-home and commercial interior consultations.

Maraldo is continuing to stay involved in the company by directing the store's upholsterers and craftsmen. She said she finds it "exciting" that Cook and Calderone have dedicated themselves to what she almost considers "a lost art."

Cook, formerly a media executive for Condé Nast and Audible, said he and his wife wanted to own their own business.

"Although we perceived a need for sophisticated, high-end interior design services, we've been surprised and gratified at the support and interest there has been in Pleasantville and the surrounding area," he said.

Said Cook, "Our goal is to secure TapeMeasure as the place for this specialty and to expand on this earth-friendly philosophy in services we offer to institutions and commercial enterprises."
