Pace's Shields Named to All-Met Second Team
Brittany Shields, a basketball player from Cold Spring, will be honored in Tarrytown April 15.

Pleasantville, N.Y.- The 2012-13 All Met Division II women’s college basketball teams were announced Friday by the Met Basketball Writers Association of which they picked Pace graduate student Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane) to the All-Met Second Team.
Shields was also named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second team this year as well for her efforts on the court this past season. She totaled eight double-doubles on the season, with a handful of close calls as she finished the regular season averaging 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. She was a staple on the conference leaderboards and finished sixth in the conference in field goal percentage, having shot 51.3% from the field on the season.

One of her more impressive performances on the year came against Saint Rose College on February 16 where she dropped 31 points, went 12-19 from the field and pulled down eight rebounds in the Setters winning effort. The 31 points was just one shy of her all-time career high.
Shields averaged 32 minutes as she started all 27 games this year. She went 160-312 from the field, 92-136 from the free-throw line and connected on her first triple of her career this past year, finishing 1-2 from the outside. The versatile forward pulled down 225 rebounds and added 72 assists, 20 steals and six blocks on the year.

Despite an injury that put her out her sophomore season, Shields garnered All-Met First Team picks every active year of her career, including Player of the Year last year. Shields currently ranks 3rd in Pace women's basketball scoring history with 1,757 career points and 7th all-time in rebounding with 1,006, as the seventh women's Pace player all-time to tally more than 1,000 in scoring and rebounding.
The All Met teams will be honored April 15 at the 80th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
