Pleasantville Court: Possible Jail Time for Heroin Defendant

A man allegedly caught with heroin was previously on probation for a past charge.

A Pleasantville man could be facing nine months in jail after he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument after a February 11 arrest.

Christopher J. Altieri, 24, was charged with driving without a license on the same date. He was arrested alongside two co-defendants.

Altieri's attorney said during the Tuesday, April 16 court session that he is undergoing treatment five days a week at Phelps Memorial Hospital and asked for an adjournment in the case "to prove to the court that he is dealing with his addiction."

Assistant District Attorney Virginia Marciano noted the arrest also led to a violation of probation charge (delinquency) and she would ask he be sentenced to nine months.

Acting Village Justice Virginia  C. Collins implored Altieri to "do something" about his alleged addiction, stating, "This is your life."
