Alleged Strangler Indicted in Westchester County Court

Tyrell Jones of Ossining had three open cases in Pleasantville, including multiple felony charges resulting fron an Aug. 19, 2012 arrest, when he allegedly broke into a resident's home and attempt to strangle her, as well as assault a police officer.

On Tuesday, the court noted Jones had been indicted on all charges in Westchester County, where prosecution in all cases is set to continue.

Grand Larceny Defendant Accepts Misdemeanor Plea

Wasim Ali of Pleasantville pled guilty on Tuesday to Criminal Trespassing in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor.

The 59-year-old was arrested on Sept. 4, 2012 after he reportedly told police he had been robbed at knifepoint while working at a local gas station. Following an investigation, police alleged the claim was false and Ali had taken approximately $1,300 in cash from his employer sometime between Sept. 1 and 4.

On Tuesday, Ashraf noted Ali had been paying back his employer and the store owner did not wish to press charges.

He was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge. Ashraf also noted he is being supervised by immigration.

Ali was also instructed to pay for and provide a DNA sample to police.

SCI for Cocaine Defendants

Jake Iadanza of Centerport, NY, and Evan Wildberger of Lindenhurst, NY, face felony drug charges resulting from a Sept. 22, 2012 arrest.

The 19-year-olds were allegedly caught with cocaine at a local gas station.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Ashraf stated the two could accept either a SCI or felony hearing.

Both defendants, through their attorneys, said they would move forward with an SCI and executed waivers.

Pleasantville set a control date of June 11 for the cases.

DWI Defendant's License Suspended

Kathleen Haggerty of Sleepy Hollow appeared on Tuesday for arraignment.

The Sleepy Hollow woman was charged with DWI with a .15 BAC following an accident investigation in Pleasantville on January 19.

On Tuesday, Haggerty's attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf, while Ashraf asked her license be suspended pending prosecution.

She is also charged with two traffic infactions—a lane violation and leaving the scene of an accident.

Village Justice John Curley suspended Haggerty's license, effective February 19.

Ashraf noted the case would likely be solved at the next court date. She is due back on March 5.
