Pleasantville Issues Another 'Stranger Danger' Alert

For the second time in the past few weeks, Pleasantville Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter has issued an alert about a local student being offered a ride from a stranger.

"It has been reported to us today that at approximately 11:30 AM on Tuesday, February 12, while walking from Pleasantville High School to the Bedford Road School, a High School student was offered a ride by a man driving a white taxi cab," Fox-Alter wrote. "The student refused and continued walking to the Bedford Road School where this same person stopped and asked her for directions."

On January 31, police notified the school district that two middle school students reported being approached by a man driving a white car with the word "taxi" hand-written on the side near Dunkin' Donuts on Washington Avenue.

In both cases, Fox-Alter said no criminal behavior appears to have been witnessed.

"...the police have been notified and I am once again reaching out to you to reiterate the need for constant reinforcement of personal safety and 'stranger danger,'" she said today.
