Pleasantville Scouts Go Behind-the-Scenes of 'Peter Pan'

The Pleasantville High School production of "Peter Pan" debuts on March 8.

From set-building to choreography, local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts once again got a behind-the-scenes look at the Pleasantville High School spring musical.

This year's production, Peter Pan, will debut on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, more than 100 scouts headed over to the high school for a "unique insider's look" into the production.

"This special afternoon of workshops makes the magic of our play come alive, and teaches the participants about theater," says Kathleen Donovan-Warren, the play’s director and Pleasantville teacher, in a statement. "We started the ‘Behind the Scenes’ program last year and it was instantly popular."

This year, the scouts took part in activities ranging from "table twigging"—which involved decorating a table to be used in a fight scene with the Pirates and Lost Boys; using the spotlight; learning a song and dance; and simulating the "run" of a scene.

Said Donovan-Warren, "Last year our production of Beauty and the Beast sold out. Our community truly supports and appreciates theater. I’m delighted to give younger students a sneak peek, as well as to educate these Scouts about all of the diverse elements that go into producing excellence in theatre."
