Police: Briarcliff Board of Ed Member Felt 'Threatened'

A board member told police a man said to him, "I am going to take you down."

A board of education member said he felt threatened after last week's meeting and brought a particular alleged incident to the attention of the Briarcliff Manor Police Department, according to reports.

The March 18 meeting, viewable in full here, included several heated comments by community members and board members alike concerning the 2013-14 budget.

The board member went into police headquarters at approximately 12:30 p.m. the following day and reported a 66-year-old man present at the meeting made a threatening statement toward him, police said.

Police said the board member also reported his property had been the target of vandalism in the past, which he suspected had to do with his role on the board.

Board of Education President Sal Maglietta declined to comment about the alleged incident and complaint.

"I don't think it would be appropriate," he said.

Police noted the man who complained did not ask to press charges, but asked to speak with the chief of police or detective about the alleged occurrence.
