Thursday A.M. Commute Unlikely Affected by Snow

However, the National Weather Service is calling for snow tonight and Friday morning.

Pleasantville and Briarcliff Manor residents shouldn't have much too worry about during today's local morning commute.

And as of 6 a.m. on Thursday, local schools had not announced any closings or delays.

While the National Weather Service is showing a 70 percent chance of snow and rain today, "Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible," it notes.

Today's high is 39 degrees. Tonight is expected to drop down to as low as 30 degrees, when between two and four inches of snow may accumulate overnight.

Tomorrow, another one to two inches of snow could come down before noon, according to NWS.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in the Hudson Valley from 6 p.m. today through 12 p.m. Friday. NWS calls for wet snow accumulation between two and five inches across the region.

"Accumulating snow on roads could lead to difficult traveling conditions tonight through noon Friday," the advisory states. "Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities."

Briarcliff Manor's public schools canceled after school activities yesterday, while Pleasantville UFSD Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter said in an alert Wednesday night, "...there is the possibility that after school activities (for Thursday) will be cancelled – please plan accordingly."
