Village Reminds Residents About Rules For Outdoor Motorized Equipment

Fall is rapidly approaching.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — With autumn rapidly approaching, Pleasantville village officials reminded residents of the rules for motorized yard equipment.

First, the ban on fuel-powered leaf blowers is in effect and will run until Sept. 30.

Second, there are rules about all motorized outdoor equipment. They may not be operated:

  • Before 8 a.m. and after 7 p.m. on weekdays
  • Before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on weekends
  • Before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. on Federal Holidays


The seasonal rules were adopted in 2022 and went into effect this year. The full text of the local law can be found here.

For gas-powered leaf blowers in particular, use is restricted to Oct. 1 through May 14 each year, or for seven days after a bad storm.

To report a violation:

  • During normal business hours, Monday through Friday, call the Pleasantville Building Department at 914-769-1926.
  • After hours/weekends: call the Pleasantville Police Department non-emergency number at 914-769-1500.

Warnings will be issued to assist in compliance, however violations are punishable by a fine of up to $500.
