Pleasantville Fire Department Pancake Breakfast

Where/When: Pleasantville Fire Department on Sunday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go: The whole family is welcome to attend a pancake breakfast at the department headquarters Sunday to help the PFD Membership Committee raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Briarcliff Manor Fire Department Open House

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Fire Department on Saturday, April 27 from 12 to 4 p.m.

Why go: All are welcome at the second annual RecruitNY Open House. Try on firefighter gear, get up close with the apparatus and watch a demonstration with the jaws of life. Food will be served. Click here to read more and here for coverage of last year's open house.

Pleasantville Volunteer Clean-Up Day

Where/When: Memorial Plaza gazebo on Saturday, April 27 at 9 a.m.

Why go: All are invited to help "clean and green" downtown Pleasantville this Saturday. Stop by the gazebo at 9 a.m. for an assignment and to pick up supplies. Clean-up will last until 12 p.m. Children 13 and under must have a parent or guardian accompanying them. Wear light-colored jackets or shirts, no shorts and no sandals.

Briarcliff Stash the Trash Day

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Youth Center on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: Stop by the Youth Center to grab a refreshment, pick up supplies and then head out to an area of the village in need of some clean-up. Community service is available for students.

Pricing: Free

Mount Pleasant Public Library Book Sale

Where/When: Mount Pleasant Public Library on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 28 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Why go: The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Public Library is hosting its spring book sale, beginning this weekend. Members of the "Friends" only can access the sale Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Interested members can join at the door. Leftover books will be available for free on Monday between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Briarcliff Congregational Church Rummage Sale

Where/When: Briarcliff Congregational Church on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: The church's annual "enormous" sale will include clothing, sporting goods, china, housewares, toys, appliances, jewelry and more. Lunch will be served and a bake sale will be ongoing.

Why Recycle? A Workshop for Kids

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Saturday, April 27 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Why go: Kathryn W. Davis Global Community Scholars Alisa Schaefer, Steven Aranda and Michael Traspasso will be working with attendees (recommended for ages six to 12) to create posters to be put on display at the library. Register in advance by calling 941-7072 or by emailing abgkaplan@gmail.com.

A Morning of Music

Where/When: Arc Stages on Sunday, April 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Why go: A family-friendly concert created by moms at Worldly Wee Ones in Pleasantville will feature music from around the world. A portion of the concert's proceeds will benefit Healing Newtown.

Pricing: $25/family

Benefit Concert featuring Vanessa Raci

Where/When:  Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (1 Woods Rd. Valhalla) on Friday, April 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Why go: Jaz, blues and R&B artists Vanessa Raci will be performing live at the Ronald McDonald House in Valhalla. Admission includes beer, wine, soda, desserts, entertainment and a tour of the house. Parking is additional. Tickets can be purchased online in advance here.

Pricing: $25

Salon and Spa Day for PFFL

Where/When: Beautiful Hair Color Salon (101 Bedford Rd. Chappaqua) on Sunday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Support the Pleasantville Fund for Learning and pamper yourself with a day of hair coloring and stylin, haircuts, facials, makeup application and waxing at the Chappaqua salon. Make appointments in advance by calling 238-5050 and be sure to mention PFFL.
